Privacy Policy

The short version: Habits stores everything you enter — habits, logs, streaks, settings — only in your own browser's local storage. Nothing you track is sent to, or kept on, a server we operate. The only outside party involved at all is Google, for signing in, and optionally Cloudflare's aggregate, cookieless site analytics. We never sell your data. You can erase everything at any time simply by using the in-app delete option or clearing your browser's site data. Details below.

1. Who we are

Habits ("Habits," "we," "us") is a habit-tracking web app available at https://habits.sadanand.in. This policy explains what information Habits collects when you use it, how it's used, and the choices you have. If you have questions, contact sadanand.padmawar@gmail.com.

2. The short technical explanation (because it changes everything below)

Habits is a local-first, offline-capable app: every habit, streak, log entry, and setting you create is written only to your browser's local storage on the device you're using. There is no database on our end holding your habit content, and nothing about what you track ever leaves your browser. That also means Habits does not follow you automatically across devices or browsers — signing in on a new device or browser starts a fresh, empty set of habits, and clearing your browser's site data removes everything permanently with no copy left anywhere else. Use Settings → Export my data if you ever want a portable backup of your own.

3. Information we collect

3.1 Account information (via Google Sign-In)

Habits uses Google Sign-In (Google Identity Services) as its only way to create an account or log in. When you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address, and a unique account identifier with the app. That information is decoded directly in your browser and stored in local storage only, so the app can recognize you as the same person the next time you open it on that same device/browser. We do not receive or request your Google password, and we do not request access to your Gmail, Drive, Calendar, or any other Google data — only basic profile/email identification, and only your browser ever holds onto it.

Google's own handling of your account and the sign-in process is governed by Google's Privacy Policy, not this one.

3.2 Habit and activity data

Anything you type into Habits — habit names, the optional "why," custom stacking cues (e.g. "After I wake up and drink water, I will do 6 Surya Namaskar"), completion logs, streaks, Focus Timer settings, and weekly reflections — is stored only in your browser's local storage. It is never transmitted to, or held by, a server we operate.

3.3 Cookies

Habits itself does not set any cookies. Signing in relies entirely on Google's own client-side library and your browser's local storage — there is no server-side session for a cookie to represent.

3.4 Aggregate usage analytics

If enabled, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see overall traffic (how many people visit, which pages, roughly how fast the site loads). It's cookieless and doesn't build a profile of you individually — it reports aggregate counts, not per-person tracking, and it never sees anything you track inside the app.

3.5 Information we do not collect

• No advertising or ad-tracking of any kind, and no third-party analytics/ad scripts (Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or similar).
• No payment or financial information — Habits is free and has no purchase flow.
• No error/diagnostic reports leave your device — problems are only visible if you report them to us directly.
• No health records in any clinical sense. Habit and wellness entries you log (meditation, exercise, etc.) are personal notes you create for yourself, stored only on your own device — we have no access to them at all.

4. Third parties involved in running Habits

Google only ever sees the sign-in request itself (Section 3.1), never your habit content. Neither Cloudflare nor Google can see, use, or share your habit data, because it is never sent to either of them in the first place.

5. How your information is used

We use the information described above only to:

• Recognize you on this device/browser so your habits and logs stay tied to your account here;
• Display your name/avatar initials inside the app;
• Understand overall usage, if aggregate analytics (Section 3.4) is enabled.

We do not use your information for advertising or profiling. We have no ability to view your individual habit logs at all — they never reach us.

6. Data sharing and sale

We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes, and we do not share it with data brokers — there is nothing of yours on our systems to share in the first place, aside from the aggregate analytics described above.

7. How long we keep information, and how to delete it

Your habit data lives only in your browser's local storage, for as long as you keep it there. You're always in complete control of it:

• Delete it entirely: in the app, go to Settings → Account → "Delete my account & data", or simply clear your browser's site data for habits.sadanand.in. Either way, this immediately and permanently erases every tracker, log, streak, freeze, reflection, and preference — there is no copy anywhere else to remain.
• Export first: use Settings → Data → "Export my data (.json)" to download a copy of everything before deleting, switching browsers, or setting up a new device.

8. Security

Because your data never leaves your browser, the main thing protecting it is the same thing protecting anything else stored locally on your device: your device's own lock screen/user account security. Sign-in itself uses Google's own official client library; we never see or store your Google password. There is no server-side account database for anyone — including us — to breach.

9. Children's privacy

Habits is not directed at children and is not knowingly used to collect information from anyone under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required by Google's own account terms in your country, if higher). If you believe a child has created an account, per Section 7 you (or the account holder) can permanently delete it at any time from Settings or by clearing the browser's site data.

10. Your rights

Wherever privacy laws such as the GDPR (EEA/UK) or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act apply, you have rights to access, correct, export, and erase your personal data. In Habits' case, everything you enter is already directly and exclusively under your control via Settings — export or delete it yourself at any time, with no need to submit a request to us, since we hold no copy to act on. 11. Changes to this policy

This update (September 5, 2026) confirms Habits' current data practice: everything stays local to your browser, with no server-side account database. If that ever changes — for example, if cross-device sync is introduced in the future — this page will be updated first, the "Last updated" date above will change, and material changes will also be noted in the app itself where practical.
