Privacy Policy

The short version: Habits stores your habit data only in your own browser. We never see it, never sell it, and there is no server for it to leak from — because there is no server at all. The only outside parties involved are Google (for signing in) and Cloudflare (for hosting the site). Details below.

1. Who we are

Habits ("Habits," "we," "us") is a habit-tracking web app available at https://habits.sadanand.in. This policy explains what information Habits collects when you use it, how it's used, and the choices you have. If you have questions, contact sadanand.padmawar@gmail.com.

2. The short technical explanation (because it changes everything below)

Habits is a static, "serverless" web app — plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with no backend server and no database. Every habit, streak, log entry, goal, and setting you create is saved with your browser's local storage, on your own device, and is never transmitted to us or to any server we control. We have no dashboard, database, or export tool that shows us your data — technically, we couldn't look at it even if we wanted to. This also means your data does not automatically sync between devices or browsers: it stays wherever you created it.

3. Information we collect

3.1 Account information (via Google Sign-In)

Habits uses Google Sign-In (Google Identity Services) as its only way to create an account or log in. When you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address, and a unique account identifier with the app. That information is decoded directly in your browser and stored locally (see Section 2) to recognize you as the same person on your next visit to this device/browser. We do not receive or request your Google password, and we do not request access to your Gmail, Drive, Calendar, or any other Google data — only basic profile/email identification.

Google's own handling of your account and the sign-in process is governed by Google's Privacy Policy, not this one.

3.2 Habit and activity data

Anything you type into Habits — habit names, custom cues (e.g. "After I wake up and drink water, I will do 6 Surya Namaskar"), completion logs, streaks, goals, and Focus Timer settings — is stored only in your browser's local storage under your account, as described in Section 2.

3.3 Information we do not collect

• No analytics or usage-tracking scripts (no Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or similar) are built into Habits.
• No advertising or ad-tracking of any kind.
• No cookies. Habits' sign-in state lives entirely in local storage, not cookies.
• No payment or financial information — Habits is free and has no purchase flow.
• No health records. Habit and wellness entries you log (meditation, exercise, etc.) are personal notes you create for yourself, stored only on your device — we never see, process, or infer anything from them.

4. Third parties involved in running Habits

None of these third parties receive your habit data, logs, or anything you enter inside the app — that never leaves your device in the first place.

5. How your information is used

We use the limited information described above only to:

• Recognize you across visits so your locally-stored habits stay attached to your account;
• Display your name/avatar initials inside the app;
• Keep the app running securely and reliably (e.g. Cloudflare's standard server logs, used only for operating and securing the site).

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond running the app you're using.

6. Data sharing and sale

We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes — we have no mechanism to do so, since your habit data never reaches us. We do not share information with data brokers. We would only ever disclose information we actually hold (the minimal operational data described in Section 4) if legally required to by a valid court order or similar legal process.

7. How long we keep information, and how to delete it

Your habit data stays in your browser's local storage until you remove it. You're always in control of it:

• Delete your account entirely: in the app, go to Settings → Account → "Delete my account & data". This immediately and permanently erases every tracker, log, streak, freeze, and preference stored for your account in that browser. This cannot be undone.
• Export first: use Settings → Data → "Export my data (.json)" to download a copy of everything before deleting, switching browsers, or setting up a new device.
• Clear it via your browser: clearing your browser's site data/local storage for habits.sadanand.in has the same effect.
• Just stop using it: because nothing is stored on a server, uninstalling the app or never returning leaves nothing behind anywhere we control.

8. Security

Because there's no Habits server or database, there's no Habits-side breach of your habit data to worry about — it simply isn't stored anywhere we operate. The security of data on your own device depends on your device and browser's own protections (screen lock, browser profile, etc.) — treat access to your signed-in browser the way you'd treat access to any other signed-in account. Sign-in itself is handled by Google's own, independently audited authentication infrastructure; we never see or store your Google password.

9. Children's privacy

Habits is not directed at children and is not knowingly used to collect information from anyone under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required by Google's own account terms in your country, if higher). If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and, per Section 7, you (or the account holder) can permanently delete it at any time from Settings.

10. Your rights

Wherever privacy laws such as the GDPR (EEA/UK) or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act apply, you have rights to access, correct, export, and erase your personal data. In Habits' case, the account information Google shares with the app (name, email) and everything you enter is already fully under your control at all times via Settings — export or delete it directly, without needing to submit a request to us. For anything not covered by those in-app tools (for example, questions about the limited server-log data described in Section 4), contact us at the email below.

11. Changes to this policy

If Habits' data practices change — for example, if a real backend or cross-device sync is ever introduced — this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will change. Material changes will also be noted in the app itself where practical.
