Terms & Conditions
Habits is a free, personal habit-tracking tool. These terms are intentionally straightforward — please also read our Privacy Policy to understand how your data (which stays on your own device) is handled.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or using Habits (the "Service") at habits.sadanand.in, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions ("Terms") and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference. If you do not agree, please don't use the Service.
2. What Habits is
Habits is a browser-based, installable habit-tracking application. It helps you build and track daily routines using streaks, habit stacking, reminders, a focus timer, and personal analytics — all computed and stored locally in your own browser, as described in the Privacy Policy. Habits is provided free of charge; there is no paid tier, subscription, or in-app purchase at this time.
3. Not medical, health, or professional advice
Habits includes habit templates and copy related to wellness practices (e.g. Surya Namaskar, meditation, step counts). This content is provided for general motivational and organizational purposes only. Habits is not a medical device and does not provide medical, fitness, psychological, or professional advice of any kind. Always consult a qualified professional before starting a new exercise, meditation, or health routine, particularly if you have an existing health condition. You are solely responsible for how you use any habit or routine tracked in the app.
4. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required to hold a Google Account in your country, if higher) to use Habits.
- Habits accounts are created and accessed exclusively through Google Sign-In — there is no separate Habits password. You're responsible for keeping your Google account secure; anyone who can sign into your Google account can sign into Habits as you.
- You're responsible for the accuracy of the information associated with your account and for all activity that happens under it.
- Because your data lives in your browser rather than on a server (see the Privacy Policy), signing in on a new device or browser starts a fresh, empty set of habits — it does not pull in data from elsewhere.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable local, national, or international law;
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service, other users' data, or the systems/networks connected to it;
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service (e.g. through excessive automated requests, scraping, or attempts to overwhelm hosting infrastructure);
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Service beyond what's already openly viewable in a browser (Habits ships as readable client-side code by design);
- Use the Service to impersonate any person or entity, or to store or transmit unlawful, defamatory, or infringing content within any custom habit names or notes you create.
6. Your content
You retain full ownership of everything you enter into Habits — habit names, cues, notes, and logs ("Your Content"). Since Your Content is stored only in your own browser's local storage (see Privacy Policy, Section 2), we don't host, back up, or have access to it, and we claim no ownership or license over it. You're solely responsible for backing up Your Content (via the in-app "Export my data" feature) — if you clear your browser data, switch devices, or delete your account, Your Content is not recoverable by us because we never had a copy.
7. Intellectual property
The Habits name, logo, visual design, and underlying code (excluding open-source libraries and fonts it uses under their own licenses, and excluding Your Content) are the property of the Habits developer. You may use the Service for your own personal habit tracking; these Terms do not grant you any right to copy, redistribute, or create competing products from Habits' branding or code beyond what any applicable open-source license separately permits.
8. Third-party services
Habits relies on Google Sign-In (Google Identity Services) for authentication, Google Fonts for typography, and Cloudflare for hosting. Your use of these underlying services, where applicable, is also subject to their own respective terms:
9. Service availability and changes
Habits is offered on an "as available" basis. We do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times, and we may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service — including specific features — at any time, with or without notice. Because Habits is a static app with no backend, most updates are deployed by simply publishing new files; we're not obligated to maintain backward compatibility with any particular version indefinitely.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that habit tracking, streak calculations, reminders, or analytics will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that using Habits will result in any particular outcome for your habits, health, or wellbeing.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE HABITS DEVELOPER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICE — INCLUDING LOSS OF LOCALLY-STORED HABIT DATA DUE TO CLEARING BROWSER STORAGE, DEVICE LOSS, OR BROWSER/OS BEHAVIOR OUTSIDE OUR CONTROL. Because storage is local to your device by design (see Privacy Policy §2 and §7), regularly exporting Your Content is the best protection against data loss, and is entirely within your control.
12. Termination
You may stop using Habits, and delete your account and all associated locally-stored data, at any time via Settings → Account → "Delete my account & data". We may suspend or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, at our discretion, including in response to conduct we believe violates Section 5 (Acceptable use).
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use Habits after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles, unless a mandatory consumer-protection law of your own country of residence provides otherwise.
